Scuba Group & Scuba Therapy
In partnership with local Scuba diving club BSAC 0513 at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club and Bubblemaster Divers, in early 2023 we started a veterans scuba group.
The aim was to provide the opportunity for veterans and their family to experience the underwater world and have a try dive. This is done here in the Eastbourne Sovereign Dive pool, Hailsham pool and Bexhill Pool.
If this is something you have ever been curious about or considered but just didn’t know how or who to approach, then here’s your chance. Never know until you try! There’s nothing to lose, only the hustle and bustle of the everyday.
The proven benefits of swimming and Scuba are well documented and for both physical and mental health and wellbeing theirs nothing better than slipping into the quite world beneath the surface. The only think you need to think about is breathing In and out and enjoying the peacefulness of the environment.
All equipment is provided as part of the cost and you will have a dedicated, Qualified, Divemaster or Instructor with you at all times. The instructor is also qualified to work with those who have adaptive needs due to physical injury such as lost limbs, hearing impaired or special needs and well as mental health issues such as ADHD, anxiety or PTS or neurological issues such as mild parkinson’s or a stroke.
For those who take to the experience we hold regular pool sessions for people to just come along and jump in and hone their skills or undertake further skills and specialist training. These sessions are run alongside any new Try Divers and qualified divers.
For those who want to become qualified divers, we run entry level courses right up to Divemaster where you learn how to teach and support other divers as well as becoming an Emergency First Responder, Teaching diving First Aid. Courses. Duration and cost vary depending on level of training being carried out.
We also provide opportunities for qualified divers to travel to other inland dive sites around the country as well as diving off a RIB off the Eastbourne coast to see one of the many wrecks we have in the Eastbourne Bay area.
For the more adventurous we organise dive trips abroad to dive in clearer waters such as Spain and Egypt.
These trips are at a cost but where possible are subsidised for veterans.
